DPFs (Diesel Particulate Filters) are designed to remove the soot particles from diesel engine exhaust gas.
However, as they get older they can become prone to blocking and causing a big drop in power, an increase in fuel consumption, engine warning lights to be lit, and expensive trips to the garage.
A popular solution was for owners to get them removed. However MOT laws changed in April 2014 introducing a visual inspection and if the DPF is not there your vehicle will fail it's MOT. Soon there will be an emissions test too so any removed or gutted DPFs will fail.
With engine carbon cleaning, remapping and forced regeneration we are resloving a lot of these problems for customers.
